This teaching style places emphasis on gentle supported alignment, and utilizes the breath with movement. The basic yoga poses introduced are:
* Breathing awareness and deep relaxation for energy and renewal
* Seated poses for a healthy back, poise, and reflection
* Forward bends for calming and nurturing the mind and body
* Standing poses for flexibility, strength, and stamina
* Inverted poses for circulation and stress reduction
These poses are introduced in a gradual and progressive manner. Props utilized are belts, blankets, mats, chairs, massage tables, walls, virtually any stable surface such that students of every physical ability can have access to practice. Becky is interested in assisting the student to develop what she considers to be the application of poses to work, home, and other environments. Class size is limited so each participant receives individual attention. You are encouraged to stay overnight and truly enter into the rhythm of retreat. Five-day retreat with four nights private lodging, all meals, instruction and materials is $570. Register by 12/31/08 for early registration price of $550. This Icon painting retreat is appropriate for those new to this form of expression as well as those who have previously written icons. Artists and non-artists can engage in this process and leave with a completed piece, ready to display. This year we will focus on the 14th Century icon entitled The Archangel Saint Michael, whose name means "who is like God", done in the Byzantine style.
A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due by January 18 to reserve a space, but earlier registration is encouraged to reap the early registration discount and because the class size is limited and is likely to fill. Final payment is due on or before arrival. Rooms for Sunday night are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call for a reservation and to arrange arrival details.
